John A. Maghamez joined GBSR Attorneys as an associate attorney in 2015. John earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia in 2012. John played offensive line for the University of Virginia football team and helped lead the team to the Chik-Fil-A Bowl in his final collegiate game. He graduated from UVA having been a member of the Dean’s List and the Student Athlete Honor Roll each semester. John received his law degree from Liberty University School of Law in 2015, where he graduated magna cum laude and as the Student Development Editor for the Liberty University Law Review Journal. His 65-page law review article covering the O'Bannon v. NCAA lawsuit was published in May 2015. While at Liberty, he won the National Negotiation Competition against 50 other law schools and placed third in the Liberty Law School Moot Court Competition.
Prior to his admittance into the legal practice, John was a Summer Associate for the General Counsel at K2M, Inc., a publicly traded medical device company, and Octagon, Inc., a global sports and entertainment agency. He also clerked for the Honorable William G. Petty of the Virginia Court of Appeals. Currently, John focuses his practice on wills, trusts, and estates, real estate transactions, and general civil litigation. He has a hand in many of the firm's other practice areas as well.
John is a lifelong Virginia native, growing up entirely in the Northern Virginia area. In his free time, John loves to attend church and Bible study, play and watch sports, eat a wide variety of food, and spend time with his wife, Kiana.
